Circlesquare - The Distance After

25 year old skate kid March 21 formed Circlesquare in 1995 in Vancouver, Canada. The man himself offers this statement of intent - “Circlesquare's primary interests lie in inciting slow-motion riots in imaginary suburban landscapes where all the electric buses are white and a nation of detached romantics feel very much at home. Best heard from the floor.” ‘The Distance After’, March 21s first Circlesquare single was released on Output Recordings in 1999. The sound was born in response to a wide range of experiences and influences (David Lynch, JD Salinger, Wong Kar-Wai, Bill Viola, The Wall, Harold and Maude, La Haine, etc), filtered through the surroundings of an everywhere city. “The music here has a sepia tinged dreamlike quality that recalls Chapterhouse’s finest moments in the hands of Global Communication… Excellent.” - WAX
